Jennifer Hightower
JD, Lincoln Law School, Sacramento, 2005
B.A. in Law and Society, UC Santa Barbara, 2000
Jennifer Hightower, J.D. went to UC Santa Barbara thinking she wanted to be a veterinarian, but when she took a few courses outside of science, she fell in love with law. She graduated with a degree in Law & Society. Law and society includes a broad range of study topics, including legal systems, judicial behavior, the globalization of law, and more.
Her passion for law did not end there — she worked for a personal injury firm by day while she attended Lincoln Law School at night, exploring different areas of law like employment law, product defect, construction defect and contract law. Her love of contracts led her to a job reviewing agreements between utilities and wireless companies and she couldn't have been happier.
Hightower has two cats, George Michael and Frankie — they are her babies, though she does also foster kittens all year round. She additionally loves to travel and will frequently jump on a plane for a weekend getaway when there is nothing else to do. One more thing students ought to know: she has costumes for every major holiday!
My favorite part of teaching is when students have that 'ah-ha' moment and share it with me, especially when they let me know how class has helped them in their professional or personal lives!
I practiced in personal injury for many years and formed a strong civil litigation skillset. I simply love contracts, whether it be finding loopholes or finding solutions using the terms of the contract. It's almost like a game to me — a serious one, of course!
My two favorite films are “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” and “Gremlins.”
My favorite class in college was Crimes, Civil Wrongs, and Constitution.
